2018 Upcoming Summer Events



Roscommon Chamber Business and Recreation Expo – Look for the Higgins Lake Foundation table at the Expo May 16 at the CRAF Center from 3pm – 6pm. Learn about local businesses and area recreational programs.


The Dorothy Hamilton Swimming Program presented by the Higgins Lake Foundation offers 2018 swimming lessons at the Higgins Lake North State Park.  A series of eight afternoon water safety and swimming classes for ages 6-12 will be held on July 23,24,25,26 and July 30,31, August 01 and 02.  The 45-minute afternoon classes taught by certified Red Cross instructors are divided by skill level.  Call the HLF office 989 275-9183 to register.  Registration fee is $25.00 for the eight-class program.


The Higgins Lake Foundation “Lake Saver Day” for the 4th grade students of the Roscommon Middle School will be held on June 5.  Students are welcome to bring a parent or guardian along.  The day includes lessons on how to be a good lake steward, boating and water safety.


Greenbelt Seminar – calling all gardeners!   The Higgins Lake Foundation in partnership with Huron Pines will host a Greenbelt Seminar at the R.A. MacMullan Center, June 26, 10am.  Emily Vogelgesang, Environmental Educator with Huron Pines will present the program.  Native plants on your shoreline help prevent erosion, limit nutrient run-off into the lake and improve and protect water quality.  Beautiful and easy to care for, native plants will thrive in any garden. No worries about where to find native plants –  the Otsego Conservation office will host a native plant sale right after the program.  Seats are limited. Higgins Lake Foundation 29th “Awareness Day” will be held at the R.A.MacMullan Center on August 4th 2018 from 4pm-6:30pm.  The event includes a live auction, food catered by Fred’s of Roscommon, door prizes and $10,000 is given away in the REALLY BIG CASH RAFFLE.   Raffle tickets, $100.00 will be for sale soon at the Higgins Lake Foundation office. 207 Terrace Drive (street behind the VFW), from all HLF board members or order by phone – 989 275-9183.
