August 6 – 27 – Annual Higgins Lake Awareness Day will take place at the MacMullan Center on Saturday, August 6 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. A $100 ticket purchase admits two adults to the reception and provides entry in a drawing for a total of $10,000 in cash prizes! (Need not be present to win.)
Be sure to visit one of the three boat washes on Higgins Lake to prevent further introduction of invasive species. The washes, funded by the Higgins Lake Foundation, are located at the South and North State Parks and the Gerrish Township Community Marina. They are open seasonally to the public free of charge. Throughout the summer, HLF volunteers will be collecting water samples as part of the statewide CLMP (Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program). Testing has been done since 1974 to help ascertain the health of the lake. The HLF is supported by generous personal donations, grants from several private foundations and the Roscommon County Community Foundation as well as bequests from those who love Higgins Lake.
Thank you for supporting our common goal to protect and preserve beautiful Higgins Lake!
